
Long transit time changes how we evaluate flexitank performance
A flexitank can perform well at loading — and still face a very different test during a long ocean journey.
Loading is only the beginning of the shipment.
For a long-distance bulk liquid movement, the solution needs to remain suitable throughout the journey — from the loading point, through ocean transit, to discharge.
That changes how performance should be evaluated.
Not only:
"Can it be loaded successfully?"
But also:
"Is the solution still suitable when the cargo reaches its destination?"
This is why I see flexitank performance as a journey-level question, rather than a loading-day question.
A practical evaluation should connect three stages:
Success at the first stage does not automatically define the outcome of the entire shipment.
The objective is not simply to load the cargo.
It is to move the cargo reliably through the complete journey.
